Early Bird registration until Oct. 1 for Sayre Turkey Trot

The Eighth Annual Sayre Turkey Trot 5K, presented by the Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital Auxiliary and sponsored by the Williams Auto Group and Dandy Mini Marts, will take place on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 27 at 10 a.m.

The free Kids’ Fun Run for ages ten and under will take place at 9:30 a.m.

The Sayre Turkey Trot 5K and Kids’ Fun Run has become the largest 5K running event in Bradford County, Pa. The 7th Annual event held on Thanksgiving morning 2013 attracted its highest attendance to date, with nearly 1,300 participants registered and the Sayre Turkey Trot continues to attract more participants each year from all over the nation.

The event will offer exciting additions for the participants to include a new race route, a medals category, registration fee schedule, and guarantee of a race Technical shirt to all pre-registered 5K participants.

On-line pre-registration for the 5K event is now available at the Sayre Turkey Trot website, www.sayreturkeytrot.com.

There is an early-bird online registration that runs through Sept. 30. Fees are $20 for individuals and $18 for teams.

Online registration that runs from Oct. 1 through Nov. 17 is $25 for individuals and $23 for teams.

Expo registration on Nov. 26 (cash or checks only), is $25 per individual or $23 for teams.

Race day registration (cash or checks only), is $30 and $25 for students 18 and younger.

Advance registrations will be accepted until Nov. 17 and will guarantee those pre-registered participants a race day Technical shirt.

There will be awards for over-all male and female 5K runners, Master’s male and female 5K runners, Grand Master’s male and female 5K runners, senior male and female 5K runners, and first Turkey Trot Teams in the categories of all- male, all- female, and mixed gender.

New this year, commemorative Sayre Theatre old-fashioned sodas in addition to special turkey-shaped medals will be presented to the first three finishers in their age group, male and female. The first 50 children who finish the Kids’ Fun Run will receive an exclusive Sayre Turkey Trot cowbell. Children will enjoy seeing one of the volunteers dressed as a turkey.

Returning this year is a Race Expo to be held during the Race Packet Pick-up / Last-minute Race Registration on Nov. 26 in the Guthrie Patterson Auditorium, 1 Guthrie Square, Sayre from 4:30 to 7 p.m.

In recognition of the Sayre Theatre’s 100th Anniversary, half of the event proceeds will be donated to the Sayre Theatre for theatre marquee repairs and renovations. Proceeds will also benefit the Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital Auxiliary community support, out-reach and hospital projects. A collection of travel-sized toiletries and laundry items from participants on race morning will be donated to the Sayre House of Hope.
