Falls Prevention Awareness Day

Falls are the leading cause of injuries for older adults. In fact, one out of every three people over the age of 65 will experience a fall each year.

Luckily, many falls are preventable. Sept. 23 is National Falls Prevention Awareness Day. Tioga Opportunities, Inc.’s Department of Aging will be offering tips and suggestions from noon to 1 p.m. at the Countryside Community Center (9 Sheldon Guile Blvd., Owego) to help you reduce your risk of falling.

The first 50 people to visit their display will receive a free nightlight.
