With 41 of 41 election districts reporting last night in Tioga County, N.Y., the decisions of Tioga County Democrat and Republican voters for their choice in the November election are in.

In the 52nd NY Senate District, Republican voters of Tioga County have chosen Thomas W. Libous as their representative, beating Candor businessman Denver Jones by 505 votes. Jones was the choice of 818 Tioga County Republicans, with eight write-in votes cast. Libous, who won throughout the 52nd District, will face Democrat Andrea Starzack in November.

In the Republican coroner’s race between Stu Bennett and Jack Manzer, voters chose Bennett with 988 votes, 886 cast for Manzer, a margin of 102 votes. The primary likely has determined Bennett will serve another four-year term as one of four Tioga County Coroners, since there is no announced Democratic candidate for November.

For Governor, Tioga County Democrats prefer Zephyr R. Teachout, giving her 326 votes to current Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, who received 276 votes, although Cuomo won the votes statewide with 60.7 percent of the votes. Democratic gubernatorial candidate Randy A. Credicio was chosen by 54 Tioga County voters. One write-in vote was cast. Republican candidate for Governor, Rob Astorino, did not face a primary challenge.

For Lt. Governor, Tioga County Democrats chose Kathy C. Hochul, who won state-wide as well, giving her 319 votes in Tioga County to Timothy Wu’s 290. There were two write-in votes cast in this race. Republican candidate for Lt. Governor Christopher Moss did not face a primary challenge.
