The Tioga Chamber hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony on May 18 at the Tioga Golf Club, located at 151 Roki Blvd. in Nichols, N.Y., in recognition of their new clubhouse. Gathered at the ceremony along with Chamber members were Tioga Downs’ and Tioga Golf Club officials and personnel, and state and local dignitaries.
The ceremony took place in conjunction with the 14th annual Tioga Chamber Open Tournament, and where each year Chamber members join clients and friends to kick off the golf season. This year, golfers were able to enjoy the amenities offered at the Tioga Golf’s Club’s new clubhouse.
On the club’s website, they stated, “The Tioga Golf Club hosts six par 3’s, seven par 4’s and five par 5’s, and all amongst a rolling countryside landscape that surrounds some of the finest views of the Susquehanna River Valley.”
Last year, as Tioga Downs continued to evolve into a destination resort, the company signed a multi-year lease for the club. Demolition of the old clubhouse made room for a new structure, which now features a state-of-the-art pro shop, locker rooms, a dining area with bar and grill, and, for special occasions, a spacious banquet room and a full, on-site catering kitchen.
Tioga Downs has expanded dramatically over the past year. With the addition of the Tioga Golf Club, the resort features Virgil’s Real BBQ and P. J. Clarke’s, along with a full casino, hotel, event center and spa.
Regarding the new golf club, Marketing Manager Jim Weed commented, “Good things are happening for our area,” and added, “This is the final phase of the whole resort.”
