Tioga Women Lead announces ‘It’s Up to You’ Women’s Leadership Conference

The Tioga Women Lead Council is proud to announce that their first conference event, It’s Up to You Women’s Leadership Conference, will take place on Thursday, June 7, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Tioga Downs Resort and Casino in Nichols, N.Y.

Tioga Women Lead is a group of professional, local, women leaders who are committed to advancing women’s leadership through empowerment, education and experience. They began hosting leadership events in 2016 to educate, support and advance women leaders in Tioga County.

“It’s Up to You” will begin at 8 a.m. with registration, coffee and light refreshments. The program starts at 9 a.m. and features local women leaders sharing their experiences, their knowledge, and the tools that have helped them grow as leaders.

There will be two breakout sessions followed by lunch and a presentation by Penny K. Bartlow, the keynote speaker, on the journey to finding your genuine leader within. Bartlow is the creator of Global Leadership Now, author of Lead From Within, President of PKB DESIGN LLC, and a member of the Tioga Women Lead Council.

This will be Tioga Women Lead’s sixth event, but the first one they are hosting that is a half-day conference. 

“We had such incredible interest and attendance at our shorter events that we realized it was time to go deeper into leadership training,” said LeeAnn Tinney, director of Tioga County Economic Development and Planning and Tioga Women Lead Council member.

Martha Sauerbrey, chair of the Tioga County Legislature and Tioga Women Lead Council member, says she hopes participants will leave inspired. 

“Our goal is to empower women to be leaders, to be confident, and to give them tools to apply what they learn in their everyday lives,” said Sauerbrey.

“The power to lead is in all who have the desire, but only you can realize that power; ‘It’s Up to You,’” added Bartlow.
