Owego Rotary partnered with Cortland Rotary to arrange the collection and packing of a full pallet of textbooks, at Apalachin Elementary School, no longer needed.
The books were destined to be discarded before the proposal was submitted to repurpose them using the Rotarian Books for the World program.
Owego Rotarians packed approximately 1,000 books in cartons, loaded on a pallet, wrapped and picked up for shipping.
The pallets of books from all USA Rotarian collection centers are co-mingled, containerized and sent to third world Rotarian managed distribution centers.
“This project contributes to our international goals of supporting world wide humanitarian initiatives” stated Al Bingley, Owego Rotary Club President.
