On May 30, 2016, at about 9:01 p.m., New York State Police at Owego responded to a Tioga County 911 report of a motorcycle accident on State Route 17C, near Day Hollow Road, in the Town of Owego.
An investigation determined that Justin A. King, 35 of Owego, N.Y. was driving his 1987 Yamaha motorcycle with his wife Tonya K. King, 34 as a rear passenger. While traveling westbound he was unable to avoid a deer in the roadway and crashed after striking it.
Both were transported by ambulance to Robert Packard Hospital in Sayre, Pa. There, Tonya King was pronounced deceased due to head trauma.
Justin King was treated for multiple minor injuries. Both were wearing helmets.
The investigation is ongoing.
