There’s no free lunch

Dear Editor,

There was a mighty king who ruled over a very rich and prosperous kingdom. The king became troubled and called together all of is wise men and philosophers. He instructed them to find out and document the “meaning of life”.  He gave them 18 months to publish their conclusions and present it to him.

These wise men worked very diligently, and at the end of 15 months they presented to the king with a 24-volume set of books explaining the meaning of life.

The king said, “ I don’t like read!  “Condense it!”

The wise men and philosophers again worked very diligently two more months and presented the king with a single book about the meaning of life.

Again, he rejected it, “I don’t like to read! “Condense it!”

The wise men and philosophers worked two more weeks and presented the king with one sheet of paper about the meaning of life, again he rejected it, and told them to condense it.

Finally the king was presented with a sheet of paper, with one sentence, explaining the meaning of life.

Would you like to know what it said?

“THERE AIN’T NO FREE LUNCH!”

Sincerely,
