The Tioga County Tourism office is calling on all tourism partners to update their information for a series of projects that will take place in 2016 and 2017. Tioga County Tourism markets to potential visitors from outside the county and provides tourism information to individual visitors, news media, public relations firms, and regional and state tourism organizations. Tourism also produces marketing materials and advertising.
Rebecca Maffei, director, said promotion through Tioga County Tourism is free for tourism related businesses and events in Tioga County, N.Y. “It is our mission to market Tioga County as a destination. You simply have to take the time to connect with our office and we will look for opportunities to promote you,” said Maffei.
Tourism partners are attractions, businesses, events and organizations who offer products, services and experiences that attract tourists and visitors from outside of the county. “Basically, a tourism partner is a type of place or event outside visitors would potentially visit when they are on vacation. A tourist might go out to eat, shop, hike or look for entertainment, but they are probably not going to look for a new insurance agent,” said Maffei
According to Maffei, having accurate and current information is crucial to be able to effectively promote tourism partners in Tioga County. “We field calls and inquiries from people who are coming to visit, news media, and travel writers; and we also produce information like our travel guide. If we do not have current information on your business, we may miss opportunities to send the press or customers to your door,” she added.
Tioga County Tourism is also looking for pictures of tourism attractions, businesses and events. “So much of marketing is visual these days. Having current photographs will help us promote Tioga County as a destination online,” added Maffei.
Tourism businesses wishing to update or submit their information to Tioga County Tourism can go to www.visittioga.com and take the Partner Information Update Survey on the homepage. The deadline for submissions and updates for 2016 marketing materials is Feb. 5, 2016. The survey only takes about
five minutes. Photographs and questions can be emailed to becca@visittioga.com or call Tioga County Tourism at 1-800-671-7772 for more information.
