The Black Cat Gallery welcomes in 2016 with new work by more than 40 artists, and special events planned for February and March.
The First Friday Art Walk starts this Friday at the Black Cat Gallery.
On Friday, Feb. 5 from 5 to 9 p.m., the Black Cat will have the music of the Triton Trio. The “Triton Trio” is the combination of the husband-wife duet Tom and Marie on guitar and bass, and banjo wizard R. J. Siegers. Tom and Marie play acoustic covers of popular music from the 60’s and 70’s and R. J. is versatile and original on the 5-string banjo. Together the Triton Trio put outs a sound that is sure to delight and entertain. Enjoy a fun night out, listen to music, take in some beautiful art and creative craft.
February’s featured artist is one of their newest artist members, Steve Forgacs. Steve creates decorative and functional wood designs that are one of a kind, made from re-purposed barn wood and steel from fallen barns here in upstate New York. Steve loves to take something that was destined for the trash and create something that one can use and appreciate. Repurposing, reviving, up-cycling, this is what Steve does, and he is proud of his work.
“Second Saturday Craft Class”, begins on Saturday, Feb. 13 from 1 to 3 p.m.
Black Cat artist member, Beth Baker will be teaching basic wire wrap techniques. Beth has been studying jewelry making for more than four years and creates a variety of wire wrapped jewelry for the Black Cat Gallery. Beth’s class will teach how to use square and half round wire to transform a cabochon into a pendant. The techniques can also be modified to make pendants from rocks.
Class fee is $25, which includes all materials and tool use. Leave class wearing a new pendant. Call 687-5550 to reserve your space in the class.
The March “Second Saturday Craft Class” will host a Beginner Needle Felting class.
