On Wednesday, May 14, at approximately 9:30 a.m., The Village of Owego Police responded to a reported possible Improvised Explosive Device at the scene of 77-79 Liberty St. in the Village of Owego.
The area immediately surrounding the building was closed off for safety to the public, and the nearby residences were evacuated. The Endicott Bomb Squad was requested and responded.

Bomb K-9 units from Tompkins County and Cornell University responded, and it was determined that no other devices were present.
The Owego Fire Department, Owego EMS were both placed on standby for assistance.
The Endicott Bomb Squad rendered the Improvised Explosive Devices safe. The investigation is ongoing.
