Tioga County issued a state of emergency last Thursday due to extremely dry weather conditions. Tioga County announced that the lack of rainfall has posed a public safety hazard due to the potential of out-of-control fires.
The state of emergency will remain in effect until Nov. 29 or until rescinded by a subsequent order.
During the next 30 days, the following activities are prohibited in Tioga County; any outdoor activity which would allow flames or sparks leading to a fire, including burning refuse, trash, and other solid wastes; burning loose leaves or leaf piles; burning downed limbs or branches; burning grass, brush, or forest-covered land.
