Orangeburg County Agent Stephen Gregory is the 2017 Agent of the Year for the South Carolina Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services (SCDPPPS). SCDPPPS Director Jerry Adger presented the award in a ceremony held recently in Columbia.

Gregory is one of more than 400 field Agents for the department, which supervises more than 28,000 criminal offenders in South Carolina. He works out of the SCDPPPS office on Church Street in Orangeburg.

Gregory has been an Agent for three and a half years. He recently became one of the first domestic violence specialist agents for SCDPPPS. This innovative program will allow agents to focus on offenders on probation or parole for domestic violence crimes.

The nomination form for Agent of the Year noted that Gregory “is always willing to work independently or as a team play. During a period when the Orangeburg office was short staff, Stephen always stepped in without being asked to do whatever was needed to get things done.”

Gregory is a graduate of the State University of New York / Brockport Class of 2011. His hometown is Owego, N.Y., and he graduated with Owego Free Academy’s Class of 2007.

An additional honor was presented to Gregory by the Alston Wilkes Society, which presented him with the Mark Hart Probation and Parole Agent of the Year Award at its annual Criminal Justice Awards luncheon. Mark Hart was an Agent in the Spartanburg County office who died of cancer and the award was named in his honor.
