Catholic Charities has been helping anyone needing food in Tioga County but they also have been helping Pennsylvania residents, as there is a shortage of pantries in Bradford County.

More help is needed, as one in five adults struggle with food insecurity. If you or your business or group can make a donation of food or money, or volunteer in the food pantry, call Catholic Charities at (607) 414-1023.

The season of Thanksgiving could not happen without the generous volunteers at Catholic Charities, the partners of Catholic Charities at Social Services, who support our programming, and the Tioga County Rural Ministry and the Open Door Mission, who share food, mittens and emergency assistance with Catholic Charities to meet people’s needs.

The Salvation Army in Nichols, though the Community Care Network of Nichols, donated funds for Thanksgiving turkeys, and gathered volunteers to help at the mobile food pantry in November. The Food Bank of the Sothern Tier is a cornerstone of the pantry, arranging for some holiday foods at no cost to the pantry.

Employees at Tioga Downs, Lockheed Martin and many other individuals make donations of food and time, and are elves and angels in their own right.
