Spencer-Candor Lions honor the 2017 Peace Poster Contest winners

Spencer-Candor Lions honor the 2017 Peace Poster Contest winnersacie Tompkins, pictured, was the winner of the 30th annual Peace Poster Contest.

The Spencer-Candor Lions recently announced the 2017 Peace Poster Contest winners during a reception held at the Spencer-Van Etten Middle School for students, staff and community members. 

Spencer-Van Etten Middle School student Jacie Tompkins was the winner of this year’s contest and received a $50 gift card by Lion President Donna Mistler. 

Lindsay Frye received Honorable Mention honors and a $25 gift card.  

Senator Fred Akshar was also present to congratulate the winners and all of the students for their hard work and desire for world peace.  

Jacie’s poster was forwarded to the District level, where it once again received First Place and she received $100. The next step is Multidistrict level, where it will be judged before Dec. 15 at the state level.  

Lion President Donna Mistler and Senator Fred Akshar also thanked Art Teacher Nicole McCarthy for the time and effort she expended on the project.
