Tioga Opportunities, Inc. offers ‘Eating Heart Healthy’ program in Owego and Nichols

Did you know that more than 60 percent of adults in the U.S. are overweight or obese? Obesity and poor diet can have serious consequences.  

Join the Department of Aging when the American Heart Association presents “Eating Heart Healthy,” a program designed to educate people on the importance of good nutrition at any age.

There will be two presentations with the first on Monday, Dec. 11, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Countryside Community Center located at 9 Sheldon Guile Blvd. in Owego. The second will be on Wednesday, Dec. 13, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Community Care Network of Nichols, located at 139 Roki Blvd.

Topics covered will include tips to stay on track with your nutritional goals during the holidays, serving vs. portion sizes, “eating the rainbow,” and much more.

There is no cost for this program, but registration is required. Call (607) 687-4120, ext. 331 to reserve your seat.
