Bruce Dedrick and the Little Big Band will perform on the big stage at the Courthouse lawn on Saturday, June 18 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Shortly after the festival parade excitement ends on Saturday morning at the 36th Annual Owego Strawberry Festival, fest-goers have a choice of three different locations for musical entertainment.

Featured at the Courthouse lawn stage are three bands that will perform originals and covers from the big band swing sound to lively and rockin’ country and rock and roll, guaranteed to appeal to every music lover.

Little Big Band

Little Big Band takes the Courthouse Square Lawn stage from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The six-member band, led by Bruce Dedrick, will entertain guests with an extensive and versatile musical sound. Especially strong in swing era music, Little Big Band plays other favorites like doo-wop, pop and even a little rock and roll.

Dedrick is an accomplished trombonist, guitarist and lead singer, as well as a composer and arranger. On stage, Dedrick will be joined by talented musicians with remarkable resumes, including Vic Merrill on trumpet and flugelhorn, Tim Donlin on alto saxophone and flute, Tom Federowicz on bass and vocals, Susan Hurwitz on piano and vocals and Mike Stebela on drums.

The group has a new CD entitled “Out of Nowhere,” which features a 17-song mix of jazz, swing, rock and more.

Deveroe

Deveroe returns to the Owego Strawberry Festival for the second year, and will rock the stage at the Courthouse lawn from 1:30 p.m. until 3 p.m.

Returning to their roots this year by crafting their own brand of upbeat rock and Americana, Deveroe is showcasing new material at live shows that is guaranteed to get people moving.

Performing a mix of originals and covers from the likes of The Lumineers and The Avett Brothers, the Dave Matthews Band and Stone Temple Pilots, among others, Deveroe’s catalog of material covers a wide range.

“We are thrilled to be on the main stage at the Strawberry Festival,” shared Deveroe’s Christopher Ruffo.

Deveroe consists of Christopher Ruffo on guitar and vocals, Steven Kocich on guitar and vocals, and Matt Ebbers on drums and percussion.

Some added excitement for the Owego Strawberry Festival and for fans of both Deveroe and the Tim Ruffo Band, keep your spot on the lawn for what is expected to be a memorable and rockin’ collaboration.

Christopher Ruffo shared, “There may be a song or two that Deveroe and the Tim Ruffo Band play together.”

Brothers Christopher Ruffo and Tim Ruffo, both talented musicians and singers and songwriters in their own right, were raised by parents who were active musicians in 1970’s folk and gospel bands. While growing up, Tim Ruffo recalls listening to his mother play guitar and singing old country songs around a campfire.

Popular regional artist, Tim Ruffo and his band, The Tim Ruffo Band (TRB), take the big stage at the Courthouse lawn from 3:30 p.m. until 5 p.m.

Tim Ruffo has been influenced by a variety of outlaw country icons such as Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash as well as Pink Floyd, Johnny Winter and the Rolling Stones.

Leaving home at age 16, Tim joined the Air Force and traveled to Alaska. His personal experiences of learning to live and work hard now resonate in his music, where songs about lost love, old friends, hope and survival connect his experiences to the emotions heard in his music.

Tim Ruffo has opened for Gretchen Wilson, Eddie Money, Trace Adkins, Joe Nichols and Kellie Pickler, among others, and has played multiple festivals and special events.

Tim’s latest single; “Glad You’re Here” was featured on the February 2016 compilation disc for the Cape May Singer/Songwriter Showcase. Tim is currently recording his next CD, which is due to be released in August 2016, the material of which is influenced by Jason Isbell and Jamey Johnson.
