The Owego Police have announced that area roads will be closed during the Strawberry Festival Block Party and 5K Run planned for Friday, June 17, from 5 to 11 p.m.
Lake Street and Front Street, between Church Street and Court Street will be closed.
Beginning at 3 p.m., Lake Street is closed to allow for the removal of all parked vehicles from the block party area.
Starting at 1 p.m. there will be no parking on Front Street between Church Street and Court Street to allow for the removal of all parked vehicles and for vendor set up.
Vehicles remaining in the street must be removed or they will be towed at the owner’s expense.
An annual 5K Run is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. with a Children’s Run beginning at 6 p.m. The start/finish is at the Tioga County Office Building 56 Main St. Owego, N.Y. The route is east on Front Street, turn left onto Paige Street, turn left onto Temple Street, turn left onto McMaster Street, right onto Elm Street to Marvin Park, and continue to the west side of the park and turn right onto West Main Street. A crosswalk will be created for the runners to cross 17C at the exit/entrance of the Marvin Park left onto Canal Street, left onto River Street, on to William Street, and then turning right onto Front Street and left onto Academy to the finish.
