The Mildred Faulkner Truman Foundation recently awarded the Tioga County Fair Board a $13,000 grant to remove the old arena at the fairgrounds, add drainage, and install a new arena. The work has taken place over the last two months.
According to Charley Truman, who is part of a new board organization that was created to revitalize the fair, the work was performed by the fair board, by Tom Scott Excavation, and work crews put together by Skyline Corral.
This year’s Tioga County Fair will take place July 5 through July 10 at the fairgrounds in Owego. Planned this year are more educational acts and exhibits. The corral will be used by 4-H and Skyline Corral not only fair week, but all summer long.
