Rally held in Albany to support Climate and Community Protection Act

Hundreds rally in Albany on June 1 to support the “Climate and Community Protection Act”, a bill that passed the NYS Assembly that day.

Hundreds of NY RENEWS members rallied at the New York State Capitol building on Wednesday, June 1 in support of the NYS Climate and Community Protection Act, A 10342.

The bill, sponsored by Steve Englebright of Assembly District 4, seeks to codify New York’s transition to 100 percent renewable energy and the elimination of greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The Act would move New York State into a leadership role in addressing climate change while protecting our most vulnerable communities and readying our workforce for a 100 percent clean energy future.

At the end of the day, the New York State Assembly passed the bill, 96-43. It now moves to the Senate.
