Waverly Farmers Market announces a new day and location for their Market

The Waverly Farmers Market announces the opening dates of June 21. The market will remain open until Sept. 27. The market will now be located in the Mini Park on Tuesday, at the corner of Broad Street and Waverly Street, from 3 to 6 p.m.

Farmers in this market must meet a requirement of growing at least 50 percent of the produce they sell. Both of their main farmers grow close to 100 percent of their products. This market accepts SNAP cards for purchase of food items, and FMNP coupon use for purchase of vegetables and fruit.

The main farmers participating are MPH farms and Terry’s Berry Farm. MPH farm is from Athens and is run by Holly Harvey. You may have met her at the Sayre Farmers Market, which runs on Fridays. She offers a variety of early vegetables from her high tunnel along with vegetables grown in her regular farming activities. Check out her MPH Farms Facebook page to see what is growing.

Terry’s Berry Farm is from Smithboro and is run by Teri Bishop. She also attends the Thursday evening Owego Farmers Market. She will be offering strawberries all season long. She will also have blueberries, raspberries and the health berry: Aronia (astringent, but high in antioxidants). Along with berries, she will have a variety of vegetables in season. Look at Terry’s Berry Farm’s Facebook page to see what is in season. Both farmers offer honey, maple syrup and eggs.

Project Grow was a regular and welcome vendor at last years’ market. If you are interested in collecting their produce and selling it on market day, you will earn free vegetables. And the market will have another vendor that grows all its own produce. Contact Project Grow through their Facebook page.

Are you interested in participating in this market? They have openings for crafters, gardeners, homesteaders, and high school teens with a garden. The biggest requirement is that you make or grow your own crafts and at least 50 percent of your produce.

Come and buy your fresh locally grown produce at the Waverly Farmers Market this summer and meet your farmer. Keep track of the Market through their Facebook Page, “Waverly Farmers Market Waverly, NY”.
