Alfred University names Owego resident to Dean’s List

Emma R. Siemer, a resident of Owego, N.Y., was named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2016 semester at Alfred University (AU). She is a sophomore in the College of Liberal Art and Sciences. Students must earn at least a 3.5 grade point average to qualify for Dean’s List.

Siemer is an Undecided major at AU, which is ranked fourth by the 2015 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings among 15 institutions selected as Great Regional Schools at Great Prices in the north. The University has also been named a “Best Buy” nationally among 24 private institutions listed in the “Fiske Guide to Colleges Best Buys of 2016.” The University has been included in the publication consistently for more than 16 years. And, in the Brookings Institution’s “value added” assessment of some 4,000 schools nationwide AU scored on par with Princeton and better than Yale and Dartmouth.

A graduate of Owego Free Academy, Siemer is the daughter of William Siemer and Deborah Short Siemer of Owego, N.Y.

The University is comprised of the privately endowed College of Professional Studies, housing the School of Business, and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, as well as the state-sponsored College of Ceramics housing the Kazuo Inamori School of Engineering and the School of Art and Design. Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degrees are awarded.
