On May 22, 2016 the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jordan T. Stevens, age 21 of 149 Newman Rd., Newark Valley, N.Y. for Attempted Murder in the 2nd Degree and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
Sheriff personnel responded early Sunday morning to Fairfield Road in the Town of Candor to investigate a report of a person being struck by a motor vehicle. Investigators allege that the defendant punched and strangled a 22-year old Town of Candor man, and then proceeded to drive over the victim with a motor vehicle.
The severely injured victim was taken to Wilson Hospital by the Candor Emergency Medical Services, where he remains in critical condition.
Stevens was arraigned on the charges in the Town of Newark Valley Court in front of Justice John Schaffer and remanded to the Tioga County Jail without bail.
No further court appearance for Stevens has been scheduled at this time.
