This month poets Michael Czarnecki of Kanona, N.Y. and Tamar Samuel-Siegel of Corning will visit the Coburn Free Library, 275 Main St. in Owego. On Tuesday, May 17 at 6:30 p.m, Czarnecki will present a poetry workshop at the library, and on the following Tuesday, May 24 at 6:30 p.m., Czarnecki and Samuel-Siegel will read from their works and sign books. Both events are free and open to the public, and funded through a grant from Poets & Writers, Inc. Registration for the events is requested but not required; call the library at (607) 687-3520.

Michael Czarnecki is a poet, oral memoirist and small press publisher. He founded FootHills Publishing in 1986, and since then FootHills has released over five hundred chapbooks and books of poetry. In the last 20 years he has given hundreds of featured readings throughout the country. Czarnecki has published 12 books, the most recent being “wild voices come when they will,” a collection of spontaneous poems, and “Morning Mist,” a collection of haiku.

Tamar Samuel-Siegel.

Tamar Samuel-Siegel is the author of two chapbooks, “Enough for Now” and “Where We Come From.” She is also the author, artist and binder of numerous artist books. As Programs and Outreach Manager for the Arts Council of the Southern Finger Lakes, she edits a weekly organizational newsletter and is writer, mentor and editor of the organization’s blog. She is co-curator of the Corning poetry reading series, POETS IN PLAY.

This is Tamar Samuel-Siegel’s first visit to the Coburn Free Library and Michael Csarnecki’s second – he presented a series of memoir workshops in 2012.
