Soap For Hope collection to benefit TCRM

Tioga County Rural Ministry will be conducting an area-wide collection of personal care products throughout the month of May. Their mission statement calls them to respond to the unmet needs of the poor, sick and elderly. Personal hygiene products and household cleaning items rise to the top of those “unmet” needs.

These products are all items that are not covered by food stamps, like soap, dish and laundry detergent, shampoo, toilet tissue and facial tissue. Their aim is to involve the wider community in efforts to meet those needs.

Be on the lookout for area stores, businesses, churches and schools who are graciously hosting bins throughout the month of May. So far, bins will be in over 35 sites in Owego.

If you don’t see one a bin, call Sister Mary at Tioga County Rural Ministry, 687-3021, and she’ll be happy to cite some of the various locations. Or if you’d like to host a bin in your place of business, you can contact her at the aforementioned number.
