Dear Editor,
This letter is in reference to Governor Cuomo’s signing of the $15 minimum wage plan and 12 week paid family leave policy into law.
As a woman, I am very glad after giving birth I will not be punished by losing my job or my credibility as an employee. The idea of a minimum wage is also encouraging because as the price of living becomes more and more expensive, our minimum wage should accompany that increase. It only makes sense for minimum wages to rise and fall with the standard of living and I hope more states will follow this example.
The minimum wage raise will affect so many people, especially ones in service jobs, which account for a large portion of work in the United States.
