Update on Visions FCU burglary; drug arrests made during investigation

On March 21, 2016, the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at 3823 Waverly Rd. in the Town of Tioga related to the investigation of a burglary, which occurred on March 12, 2016 at the Visions Federal Credit Union on State Route 38 in Newark Valley.

On that date two individuals entered the lobby area and attempted to break into an ATM machine causing approximately $3,000 in damage. The investigation also uncovered several incidents of criminal mischief and attempted larcenies of change machines at various car washes in Tioga and Broome Counties during the months of February and March of 2016.

The search of the residence resulted in the discovery of clothing items and tools the police suspect to have been used during the burglary at Visions Federal Credit Union and during the car wash incidents, according to a Tioga County Sheriff’s report. Also discovered at the residence was a discarded one-pot style methamphetamine lab, cold medicine containing pseudoephedrine as well as several chemicals and lab equipment used in the production of methamphetamine.

Arrested as a result of the investigation was Michael S. Webb, age 34 of 3823 Waverly Rd., Owego, N.Y. He was charged with Burglary third degree, Criminal Mischief second degree, and Unlawful Manufacturing Methamphetamine in the third degree. Webb was arraigned in the Town of Newark Valley Court in front of Justice John Schaffer and remanded to the Tioga County Jail without bail.

Also being sought in connection to the incidents is Phyllis M. Harders, age 53 of Parish, N.Y. An arrest warrant was issued by Justice John Schaffer for the charges Burglary third degree, Criminal Mischief second degree and Unlawful Manufacturing Methamphetamine in the third degree.

On April 1, 2016 the Tioga County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of a suspicious person at 3823 Waverly Road in the Town of Tioga and found evidence of a second methamphetamine lab.

A second search warrant was executed on the residence by the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division, which resulted in the discovery of homemade lab equipment, chemicals used in methamphetamine production, methamphetamine dissolved in solvent, hypodermic needles and a small quantity of methamphetamine.

Arrested as a result of the investigation was Scott A. Cole, age 36 of 3905 Waverly Rd., Room 16, Owego, N.Y. He was charged with Unlawful Manufacturing Methamphetamine in the Third Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree and Criminal Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument.

Casandra L. DiMarco, age 25 of 3823 Waverly Road, Lot 4, Owego, N.Y. was also charged with Unlawful Manufacturing Methamphetamine in the Third Degree, two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, Criminal Nuisance in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Hypodermic Instrument and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the First Degree.

Both Scott A. Cole and Cassandra L. DiMarco were arraigned in the Town of Tioga Court in front of Justice Paul Martin and remanded to the Tioga County Jail on $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.

The New York State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team assisted the Sheriff’s Office on both occasions with the safe processing of hazardous materials.
