The problems this country faces can be diagnosed in two words – voters and congress.

The election is over for the Mayor. I wanted to show appreciation for our Mayor Kevin Millar. During our great flood he was in the trenches, mud up to his knees, in and out of flooded houses. He full time gave his all to the village, went to meetings on other boards he didn’t have to, trips to Albany and looked over our new 50 and older building project. I want to thank him for his loyalty to our village. Donna Kuhns, Dean Street, Owego.

The U.S. State Department is debating whether to call the atrocities committed against Christians in the Middle East Genocide, which anyone with a brain knows it is. This includes beheadings, crucifixions, selling children into slavery and other reprehensible acts by Isis and its subsidiaries. John Carey originally called it Genocide but now he is backtracking because the U.S. is required to act if it is indeed Genocide. Meanwhile emperor nobama says nothing. He is a Genocide denier. Political weather forecast. How would a President Trump handle something like the Cuban Missile Crisis where we were inches away from oblivion? Is he too impulsive because he swings from the gut? Is he the man for the job? Think before you vote for Trump.

Answering the question in response to the person wondering where to bring their dead batteries. Wegman’s in Johnson City, they have a deposit box to bring dead batteries.

~

I was wondering if anybody ever uses Zap tile restorer? I see it’s advertised on television, I was just wondering if anyone has ever used this on vinyl tiles. Please respond with your experience on if it works well or not.

I would like to make a comment about Tioga getting a grant from the State. We would like to see Catlin Hill Road fixed this year, not just patching the road. We would like to have a new road put on, don’t forget we pay taxes too. We would like to have a nice road to drive on. Maybe we should bring our bills to you when we have to have our car fixed due to the roads.

Fox news is supposed to be a Republican TV station but they keep bringing up some of Donald Trump’s issues all the time and throwing them into viewer’s faces. I don’t think they got over the Megan Kelly thing. She is not a great reporter or an analyst.

~

Click, Click, Click, this just in, breaking news from Trump Headquarters political reporter. Due to recent events Trump is going to hire and maintain a new head of security, he is going to hire WWE superstar, Brock Lesnar. To my two most favorite fans, have a nice day. Thank you, thank you very much!

I have a box full of 15 oz. and larger coffee cups, mugs, whatever you want to call them that I will be willing to give to anyone who would like them. You can call me at 659-3871.

Does anyone really care about our children or is it money one more time? Please help this man from Canton who lost his son. Get behind him, we are Bradford County people, we are Tioga people. We don’t need people from California or wherever coming in here for one more chapter, not one more chapter. Bring people around that we need, not foreigners that may not be here for the cause but for the money. Please, think of your kids. I’ve almost been there, done that and thank God, by the grace of God I did not have to go through what Mr. Kinsman did and I bless that man’s heart. Stand behind him, follow him, and make it to his meeting in Towanda. Use your heart this time, not your head.

How is it fair that houses owned by a couple children still get the enhanced Star Rebate if it was owned by the older couple and if the older couple still live in the house? If they don’t own the house, they don’t own the house. If the children under 65 own the house they are not qualified to get the rebate for over 65, I don’t care who’s living in it.

I don’t think they should a fourth trial for Cal Harris. If they want to, as somebody suggested, they should have Kirk Martin pay for it, not the taxpayers.

~

I’d like to comment about the Cal Harris trial. I think that the person who put the comment in last week, if they checked the records I believe it was a hung jury so therefore if he wasn’t found guilty or innocent by law they have to try him again. I doubt very much our DA wants to travel back and forth every day. It isn’t exactly a cup of tea for him either. I’m not defending either way but they need to read their facts before they say those things. Also, the person who is talking about the old man up on the hill shortly, I take it he is criticizing highway people – that they’re sitting up on the hill or something but if he has a problem with someone not doing their job he should take it to the proper authorities. Also, people who think it’s bad enough to have to listen to Sean Hannity, don’t listen, change the channel.

~

All the politicians remark, but where do they get their proof about Ted Cruz being born in Canada or wherever. Where do they get all this information? Do they know it to be fact? I think that should be printed once in while and I hope we don’t have to go very long with all of the comments here, it could be more local stuff than just what we see on TV or read in the newspapers constantly and political stuff constantly. Obamacare? I don’t know anybody that has Obamacare, they tell you it’s a savings but they go by your wages and they go by everything else, they don’t go by what’s behind it. They don’t care how many children you have, how much upkeep you have if you have your own personal business by yourself. I don’t know anybody that has anything good to say about it. To the litterbugs, everybody should be picking it up, I do. I pick it up from the neighbors that blows in my yard and when I walk. Everybody should be doing their part.

Found in the Trumpster. Has anybody else noticed the sword waving and yelling the war and aggression that spews out of candidate Trump’s mouth? The funny thing here, maybe it’s not so funny, is that he too has the same characteristics as most of those republican draft dodgers. Trump avoided the draft because of some alleged bone spurs. Why is it that all these loud mouths that shoot off about the “war nation”, meaning us, have never served a day in the military. Think about it when you vote for that bird.

~

If the Republican candidates don’t get enough delegates before the Republican convention they might run a third party. They’re talking Paul Ryan. It’s a sad day in America if that is the best America has to offer, a loser like Paul Ryan.

~

For those of you who might be inclined to vote for Hillary, I have two things. First, a Grand Jury has to have been created in order for there to be immunity granted to the person who set up Hillary’s private server. Second, White Water and Rose Law Firm scandals are again rearing their ugly heads in Hillary’s background. Hillary is not about to live down her perpetual lies and distortions any time soon. I’m thinking you’d better pick another candidate.

~

To last week’s caller about Trump and “fresh air.” I’m glad I don’t breathe the same air you do! Donald Trump is TOXIC! He POLLUTES the air. He is a racist bigot and spews hatred and violence. It is frightening that he has the same characteristics as Adolf Hitler did. Wake up,American people! Please do NOT put this incompetent, unknowledgeable, racist man in power! I liken Trump to a cult leader. People follow him blindly. (As they did Hitler at first.) Don’t be a blind follower. DEFEAT Trump!

Note to Mr. Hartman: If flood insurance is all tax money why was I paying flood insurance premiums in addition to my tax bills?

~

I may be wrong but it seems to me that someone who got accepted to a police academy and was subsequently graduated would have already passed several background checks.

“Seven top Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) experts have taken the brave rare step of publicly filing an independent finding warning that nearly every U.S. atomic reactor has a generic safety flaw that could spark a disaster. The warning mocks the latest industry push to keep America’s remaining 99 nukes from being shut by popular demand, by their essential unprofitability, or, more seriously, by the kind of engineering collapse against which the NRC experts are now warning.” from “Seven Top Engineers Break Ranks to Warn of Critical Danger at Aging Nuke Plants” Harry Wasserman of Ecowatch.

Endorsement of Bernie Sanders for President by Asher Edelman: “When you have the top one percent getting money, they spend five-ten percent of what they earn. When you have the lower end of the economy getting money, they spend a hundred, or a hundred and ten percent of what they earn. As you’ve had a transfer of wealth to the top, and a transfer of income to the top, you have a shrinking consumer base, basically, and you have a shrinking velocity of money. Bernie is the only person out there who I think is talking at all about both fiscal stimulation and banking rules that will get the banks to begin to generate lending again as opposed to speculation.” Who is Asher Edelman? The inspiration for Gordon Gekko of Oliver Stone’s “Wall Street”. Is there something wrong with this picture? Maybe not.

If you believe that the Clintons had nothing to do with the riots at the Trump rallies, then I have a bridge to sell you!

I just got back from the Tioga County Museum on Front Street and have to say that I was in awe of all of the beautiful handmade quilts on display. They are not just quilts, but works of art. The people who made them are not just quilters, but artists. I don’t know how they think of all of those intricate designs and colors. Stop by and see for yourself; perhaps you will be inspired to make one, too. The museum is open Wednesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. By the way, there are smaller pieces that your are invited to bid on for yourself or to give as a treasured gift to someone.

Is anyone else ashamed that we had FEMA pay for the beautiful playground at the Owego Apalachin Elementary School? Grand Larceny at least and derelict of elected duty.

The disruptions at Trump rallies: Free speech demonstrations are okay, out on the street on public property. But to be disruptive of other people’s rights by professional disrupters, “Black Lies Matter” or “Move On Dot Org” is criminal vandalism. Their taunting is just asking for trouble. To paraphrase something Regan said, “I paid for that arena” (Trump). Just what I would expect from Liberal Democrats, who believe in free speech, only when it is their free speech, and who support a Benghazi liar and incompetent handler of our top secret emails. You should be ashamed of who you let represent you, but guess not!

What a wonderful idea! The Justice Department indicts Hillary and the Senate considers Nobama’s nominee for the Supreme Court. I mean, talk about cooperation, reaching across the aisle, all that nonsense, making government work.
