Train Safety to be topic of upcoming Sierra Group meeting

The Susquehanna Group of the Sierra Club meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 15, from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Central United Methodist Church, 17 Nanticoke Ave., Endicott, N.Y.

The topic will be “Train Accidents, Don’t Let it Happen Here”.

Richard Sprout is a labor activist and member of Citizens for Train Safety. Here in Broome County, more than 60 percent of the population lives within two miles of a rail line. Hazardous materials go through communities like ours every day, and stronger safety measures are needed to protect workers and communities.

The public is welcome to this free presentation. Entrance to the Social Hall is from the parking lot in back of the Church. Light Refreshments are served following the meeting and presentation.
