The Tioga County Chamber of Commerce is presenting a Public Relations Workshop on Thursday, Feb. 25. This seminar will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Owego Treadway Inn and Conference Center, Owego, N.Y.
Understanding the basics of effective public relations and sound communication strategies and using Public Relations as a marketing tool will be the main focus for this workshop.
This will be an inspiring and educational morning as participants learn how to identify themes of clear, consistent and creative expressions of your brand, important elements underlying marketing communications, and how to deal with negative media.
Maggie Barnes is the facilitator for this seminar. She has been a professional communicator for 25 years as a reporter and news anchor, writer, marketer, public relations director and spokesperson. She, along with her husband Robert, own MB Communications, based in Waverly, N.Y.
She is a FEMA certified Public Information Officer and a member of the Southern Tier Regional Incident Management Team through New York State. As a contributing writer for Mountain Home Magazine, Maggie was honored with a Keystone Press Award for her columns in 2015. While laboring over the next great American novel, Maggie works full time in healthcare marketing.
