During Christmas this year, I had lights stolen that were in front of my home. They were stolen from the big white house on Whig Street in Newark Valley. What someone does not know is that the lights were shining for a 41-year-old resident undergoing chemo. He has 12 to 14 months to live, according to doctors. He knew, somehow, that the lights were taken. We would appreciate if someone would return the lights, it would mean so much. There is even a reward. Call 657-4464.

It is sad that Spencer’s DaVinci’s Restaurant is closing as of the first of the year.

It did last five years. Where will the Town Board hold their unofficial meetings?

Will the person claiming that Hillary wants to take away guns please provide a link to a video of her saying that or to a newspaper interview of her making such a statement. A link to the actual source please, not to a hearsay source. Thank you.

The reason the media hasn’t reported Obama’s secret admission of 10,000 Syrian refugees is because it hasn’t happened.

Now that I know the name of the person to contact, I would like to ask Mr. Jensen why the OACSD does not support our local Post Office. When I paid my last tax bill, it was mailed to a P.O. Box at the Binghamton Post Office near the Mets ballpark. This has to be about an hour and a half round trip plus a person’s time and mileage to pick up the mail at least five days per week. Please answer this question in this medium Mr, Jensen. Thank you.

“Man cannot live on cheese alone (Lord knows I’ve tried!), but it turns out the dairy product is able to generate a different kind of energy. Believe it or not, cheese makers in the French Alps have found a way to convert their cheese scraps into enough electricity to power the homes of 1,500 people. In order to create the energy, workers add bacteria to the leftover Beaufort whey. The whey/bacteria combination results in methane and carbon dioxide, both of which in turn heat water that generates electricity. Altogether, the Alps cheese creates nearly three million kilowatt hours of energy annually. For context, it would take over 2.5 million pounds of coal or 200,000 gallons of oil to manufacture that same amount of power otherwise.” Mmmm – France Is Now Generating Energy With Cheese”. Hooray, the New York State Property Tax rebates will be in your mailbox soon – unless you live in the Town and Village of Spencer and a couple of other Towns in Tioga. It seems that the Town Board could not come up with a State approved plan demonstrating that they are working to reduce the amount of taxes they levy. The Town of Spencer is $46,664.00 over the limit. The Spencer Van Etten School system is $107,000 over. I bet they got their raises. Check your Town at www.lohud.com to see what your Town or School did. And I ask you: What’s not in your wallet?

The paving crews did a great job on Honeypot Road in Candor, but they really need to put the lane markers and white line down. I travel that road every night and it is often so foggy that you have to drive 10 mph because you can’t see where the edge of the road is. Several times this month I had to come to a complete stop until I could make out weeds on the side of the road, just hoping no one would come up behind me and plow into me. Hopefully it is still warm enough to paint them before spring. Thank you.

We have schools that think teaching basics of Islam is cool. I say, more power to them, PROVIDING THEY GIVE EQUAL TIME TO PROTESTANT CHRISTIAN RELIGIONS! Why we need to spend time teaching about Islam and Sharia law, I have no clue. We are a Christian nation, we speak ENGLISH, and we have a CONSTITUTION as the law of the land, PERIOD!

You have to love it! Hillary has sworn to continue Nobama’s failed policies. Now how smart is that? As if eight way, way too long years of this destructive nonsense isn’t enough! Desperation in action if you ask me.

Donald Trump, the buffoon strikes again. The man wouldn’t know the truth if he tripped over it. He accuses Hillary Clinton of lying about him as a recruiting tool for Isis. You know the only way you can tell if Trump lies is when you see his mouth open. Give me a break!

Can someone tell me what the glitters that are on Christmas cards are made of? Are they dangerous if swallowed or inhaled? They cling to everything and make me nervous.

~

I have a great idea for 2016. Let’s stop all this talk about nobama and republican buffoons. May everyone have a Happy New Year and a Merry Christmas.

This article is taken from a local newspaper. Tioga County has been identified by the State Health Department as one of the top counties in New York State where 55 to 64 percent of all antibiotic prescriptions are over prescribed by physicians for viral illnesses, colds, flu and upper respiratory infections. Antibiotics can only cure infections caused by bacteria, not viruses.

I’d like to agree with the pro-fracking person that wrote in last week. Fracking would help everybody. It would be a big boost for the economy. Whether or not you have drilling on your land, the economy would be greatly boosted. I don’t see how it’s an advantage to import all of our gas from neighboring states like Ohio and Pennsylvania. It takes a huge amount of resources to transport and there’s danger in that just as there is getting out of bed. If people were afraid of danger they wouldn’t even drive cars. I don’t think most people know that there are no term limits for the State of New York. Doesn’t that seem strange to you? How can there be no term limit? The president has a term limit, how can the governor just run forever? It would be nice if people would get on the bandwagon and get term limits.

More surprise Christmas presents from your elected Republican officials. Watch what the people supposedly representing you are doing about the ever-rising drug crisis. The Republicans said they were going to help the middle class if they took over congress. They’ve taken over congress and of course they are doing nothing but helping themselves to more holiday vacations, boondoggle trips hither and thither. Every day we hear about outrageous increases in the price of drugs that many of us can’t do without. Why don’t the Republicans attack this issue and get some common sense going in the drug business? Happy New Year!

~

I just called to ask a simple question. If fracking is such a great thing for the state, why is the state of Pennsylvania broke with the latest budget and have to raise taxes to pay for their normal bills? Now fracking is making all this money for the state and the people, why isn’t the state throwing in money left and right? You’d think they would because they claim to be. The people that want to frack up here claim to be. So somebody is misleading somebody big time!

~

The burn barrel is still sitting in the back lawn at Woodlawn Avenue. Would you please come and take it where it should be disposed of? Come on, it’s Christmas! Do the right thing!

~

I moved from Tioga County to Chemung County about 10 years ago and on Christmas Eve we noticed David Harder caught the Grinch who stole Christmas and the Chemung County Sheriff also did the Santa watch. I really appreciate that to keep the kids safe because I have kids of my own. I want to wish all the law enforcement agencies out there and the EMS and the firefighters out there a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous and safe New Year.

I’m looking for a garage space to rent for January and February and possibly March or just January with electricity. I’m looking to do some minor work on my van; heat is not necessary. If there is anyone who can rent me a garage space, please text (607) 321-7742.

If we didn’t get a white Christmas we should be thankful we didn’t get hurricanes and tornadoes like they did in the south. May you have a Happy 2016!

~

Good luck to the person who wrote in about Owego needing more parking spaces for Christmas. I’ve asked several times to have that printed and they flatly refused to print it. Lots of luck and God Bless you!

Over this past two months New York State has enjoyed a very mild and warm winter season. The New York State Department of Transportation has saved millions of dollars in overtime pay and anti-icing material. I am wondering what has New York State done with the money saved and the man hours saved?

I’m calling in response to the 80-year-old gentlemen who called in complaining about his health benefits through Obamacare, etc. He claimed he was with IBM for 30 years. The only thing I have to say is consider yourself lucky you found an employer who would keep you on for 30 years because in the Southern Tier in New York State the 30-year employment time does not happen anymore – so quit your complaining.
