The second annual Toy and Collectible Show is scheduled on Saturday, Nov. 21 and Sunday, Nov. 22 at Tioga Downs, located at 2384 W. River Rd. in Nichols, N.Y.

The show benefits both Toys for Tots and the Food Bank of the Southern Tier and will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 21 and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 22. Admission into the event is free.

Organizer Fran Antalek from Tioga Downs’ Antiques and Flea Market requests guests to bring one new unwrapped toy to the event, to be distributed to local children via the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves Toys for Tots program. Antalek would like to surpass last year’s goal and hopes to collect upwards of 400 toys to be donated to Toys for Tots.

Every guest who brings a new, unwrapped toy to the event will receive three chances per toy to be eligible to win multiple door prizes, which includes twenty $50 gift certificates.

Thirty vendors are expected to participate showcasing a variety of antique and vintage toys, as well as trains, coins and an impressive selection of collectibles. Items will be available for sale, and all vendor fees benefit the Food Bank of the Southern Tier.

“The Toy and Collectible show will appeal to all ages,” Antalek said. Following a successful first year, Antalek is hopeful it will continue to be an annual event.

The Toy and Collectible show is sponsored by The Marketplace at Tioga Downs, Early Owego Antique Center, Owego Elks Emporium, Dunbar Antiques and ‘Erb Lady of Owego, Mapes Auction Gallery and Bostwick Auctions.

The Toy and Collectible Show is a win-win for all involved. The show provides guests another fun way to get into the holiday spirit and at the same time give back to the community, and in turn, Toys for Tots donations will be distributed to area children and the Southern Tier Food Bank benefits from vendor fees collected.
