Camp Ahwaga receives grant from Community Foundation

Last month it was announced that Camp Ahwaga was awarded a grant in the amount of $11,500 by the Community Foundation for South Central New York’s Community Fund for the purpose of assisting the Camp for a major portion of their insurance costs in 2016.

Camp Ahwaga’s mission is to provide activities designed for children ages four to 21 who are physically, mentally, developmentally, and / or emotionally disabled, as well as provide respite for their families.

The six-week summer camp provides both education and recreation. The camp offers speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy and swimming.

Outside of the summer season Camp Ahwaga provides ongoing monthly recreational activities.

The Camp is extremely dependent on and grateful for organizations such as the Community Foundation for its ongoing support of the children of Tioga County.
