Shelly’s Redemption Center to host party in celebration of first anniversary

A bottle and can redemption business in Tioga Center, N.Y. is celebrating its first anniversary this month. Shelly’s Redemption Center, located at 3158 Rte. 17C in Tioga Center is hosting a one year anniversary party on Saturday, Oct. 31. Owner Shelly Forrest invites you to stop by for scary treats, chilidogs and other refreshments starting at 11 a.m.

Customers who bring returnable cans and bottles to Shelly’s Redemption Center will receive six cents every day for each bottle and can. Along with fast and friendly service, Shelly’s does all of the counting and pays promptly in cash.

Different than other redemption centers, Shelly’s has a convenient drive through service. Customers can wait in their vehicles while Shelly retrieves the bottles and cans and counts them immediately. Otherwise, plenty of parking is available for all other customers, and Shelly is available to help customers carry their bags inside the building.

For customers who need assistance, Shelly explained, “Just drive up and beep your horn.”

Shelly’s Redemption Center now offers bottle and can drives for groups as well as sets up residential accounts. Appointments can also be arranged in advance for customers unable to come during regular business hours.

When Forrest first decided to start the business, she felt there was a need for a redemption center in the Tioga Center community. Today, customers come from various communities in and outside of the county. Shelly’s location is also convenient for customers living in northeast Pennsylvania who purchase bottles and cans in New York. Located directly across from Interstate Auto Parts, Shelly’s is within a five-minute drive west of Owego.

Shelly appreciates the support she has received from customers, family and friends. Shelly’s Redemption Center is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., and is closed Thursday and Sunday.
