Nestled in the heart of Owego’s historic district, Carol’s Coffee & Art Bar, located at 177 Front St., near the corner of Front and Court Streets, opened Aug. 1. A favorite coffee bar for many years, the former Goat Boy Coffee Bar was due to close. Now Carol’s Coffee & Art Bar, the establishment offers a majority of the same beverage and baked goods selections, including the beloved artisan-roasted coffee from Binghamton’s L’Aveggio Roasteria.

New at Carol’s Coffee & Art Bar is “Souptember,” where a variety of homemade soups will be available ongoing, just in time for sweater weather. Country vegetable chicken, bacon tomato, chili, roasted turkey vegetable and pepperoni soup are just a few examples of soups in-queue, and soup-lovers can also choose an in-house baked bacon and cheddar scone or cornbread to complement their soup, or other side item.

The fall season brings new beverage additions to Carol’s Coffee & Art Bar, like hot or iced pumpkin lattes and hot mulled cider. Otherwise, favorite varieties of drinks like teas, lattes and espressos remain, and many of the sweet treats offered, like scones, biscotti, pound cakes and cookies, are still baked in-house. The much-raved-about six-layer coconut dream cake remains a coffee bar favorite, along with other layer-upon-layer cake creations. Gluten-free choices are available as well.

A different twist, customers will enjoy year-round ice cream at Carol’s, as well as ice cream sodas and milkshakes.  For the traditional ice cream lover there is chocolate, vanilla or strawberry, or if you want to try something new, salted caramel is a double thumbs-up, among other enticing choices. If you’re feeling nostalgic, order up a root beer or birch beer float.
