Denise Tarbox to be featured artist at Black Cat Gallery during September

The Black Cat Gallery’s featured artist for September is textile artist Denise Tarbox. Denise loves water or wet felting and has been felting for more than 15 years. She is a member of the “Shuttle and Spinner Guild” of the Newark Valley Historical Society.

Denise teaches her wet felting technique creating hats, shawls and scarves and demonstrates at various sheep and wool shows in New York and Pennsylvania. Denise takes pride in her craft and uses high quality, hand dyed merino wool, silks and bamboo in her beautiful wearable textiles. Denise also crafts animal vessels and cat ball toys, all very colorful and one of a kind.

In September, second Saturday craft classes will begin at Black Cat Gallery. Beth Baker will be teaching beginning/basic wire wrap techniques. She has been studying jewelry making for four years and is now a jewelry artist at the Black Cat Gallery. The class will teach how to use square and half round wire to transform a cabochon into a pendant. The techniques can be modified to make pendants from rocks.

The class will be held on Saturday, Sept. 12 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Black Cat Gallery in Owego and the cost is $15. Materials will be provided.
