Antique and Unique Bike Day to take place September 12

The Owego Revitalization and Betterment Corporation (ORBC) is organizing an Antique and Unique Bike Day on Sept. 12, 2015 to be held in Draper Park in Owego, N.Y.

The day starts with an Antique and Unique Bicycle Parade through the village. For the parade, organizers are encouraging participants to decorate themselves and their bicycles.

Children 13 and under ride free with a paid adult admission of $10. Tickets are available at Black Cat Gallery, Riverow Book Shop, and online at www.reviatlizeowego.com.

Prizes will be awarded for: most antique bicycle, most unique bicycle, most amazing costume, and most amazing bicycle.

After the parade, join one of three Bicycle History Tours, which will take you from Canawanna to Turtletown in the Village of Owego. The ride is on mostly flat ground with frequent stops at historic sites within the Village.

Visit the Owego Police Department booth to register your bicycle for free and receive an authentic 1950’s bicycle license, and then test your skills on their bicycle obstacle course.

Watch the juggling-unicycle riding antics of Will Stafford and listen to some music. Buy a 50/50 raffle ticket or a Bicycle Passport to the downtown shops.

Draper Park will be the center of fun on Sept. 12. So come one, come all for a day of parading, music, tricks and tricked out bikes; all for the cause of making Owego the best village it can be.

This event is a fundraiser for the ORBC, which just received a grant to install bike racks throughout the downtown area. The ORBC is also working on repairing the bicycle trail along the Owego creek, which was damaged by the flood of 2011, and connecting it with a village wide walking and biking trail.
