On Sunday, Aug. 23, Newark Valley will host two free events with a variety of activities, food and entertainment for all ages.

Sundaes at the Farm is an annual event that showcases the agricultural industry in Tioga County. This free, family event is both fun and educational.

As in past years, there will be self-guided barn tours with the farmers on hand to answer questions, baby calves and other farm animals, educational displays, the 4-H food booth, live music by the Get Down Boys, and free ice cream with local toppings served by the Tioga County Dairy Princess.

This year, Sundaes at the Farm will be held on Lawton’s Jersey Farm, 431 Bridge St. in Newark Valley, from noon to 3 p.m. Lawton’s is a fourth generation dairy farm that is owned by Merle and Margaret Lawton and was started in 1938 by Merle’s parents. This family-run farm is the perfect setting to learn about local farms and enjoy a fun, family outing.
