A Soldier’s Wish fundraiser will take place at Tioga Downs Casino in Nichols, N.Y. on Sunday, Aug. 16, starting with a Trackside Tent Buffet at noon and live harness racing at 1:30 p.m. This event is hosted by the American Legion Auxiliary and there will be entertainment all day, along with basket silent auction raffles and t-shirt sales.
Soldier’s Wish is a national public charity whose mission is to say “Thank You” and provide for unmet needs by granting wishes to active duty service members, veterans and their families, in all five branches of the military to include the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard.
This is a family friendly event and all are invited, but tickets are pre-sale only. Call (607) 659-4724 or email dc93@cornell.edu to arrange ticket sales and pickup and delivery.
Tickets are $22 per person. Ages four to 12 are $11, and children under three are free. The menu includes Nathan’s Famous Hot Dogs, hamburgers and cheeseburgers, Southern Tier chicken spiedies, grilled sausages with peppers and onions, potato salad, broccoli salad, cookies, water, tea, lemonade and soda.
Money raised through the American Legion Auxiliary, Department of New York, stays in New York to help the state’s military personnel.
