It is time to move forward with the plan to alleviate the traffic problem in Owego before the available monies disappear. It is time for the warring groups to get behind the plan.
Basically we can split Owego into two parts (east and west) with expanding the intersection at North Avenue and Main Street, or fill the North Avenue hole and use Central Avenue.
The North Avenue hole has been with us for many years in hope of a retail store filling it. Not going to happen folks. I believe the best plan for all of Tioga County, and those who need to reach 17/86 is the plan presently being presented by the County Economic Development and Planning Department.
It will fill the North Avenue hole and use Central Avenue. It will help the truck traffic, which will reduce the after school traffic parking lot on North Avenue. It is time for residents of the Village of Owego, the Town of Owego, and Tioga County residents to write or call the Tioga County Economic Development and Planning Department to support this plan before the money disappears.
