Twenty teams start bracket play Monday night on Hyde Park’s four diamonds in the second full week of the 20th Annual 10U Owego Little League (OLL) Tournament.

Four games each night start at 6 p.m. Four Saturday games will be held at 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Tournament Co-Director Eric Hawkins says the teams playing are C Bracket: Maine Endwell-Blue, Candor, Maine Endwell-Gold, Vestal-Ramia, Nichols-Tioga, Chenango Valley, Roosevelt Train – Wyalusing, Pa., Owego, Vestal-Gold, and Union Endicott-Black.

B Bracket teams include Maine Endwell-Congdon, Vestal-Donlin, Union Endicott-Orange, Windsor and Greene.

A Bracket teams include Ithaca, Maine Endwell-Groton, Vestal-Kretzmer, Johnson City an Union Endicott-Emilio.

Teams are in Owego from five neighboring counties. Four from New York State’s Southern Tier – Tioga, Broome, Windsor and Chenango Counties and one from Pennsylvania’s Northern Tier Bradford County.

Longest team trip is for Wyalusing, Bradford County, 56 minutes, 45 miles via Towanda and Nichols on US6/PA187 and I86. Next is Greene at 49 minutes and 43 miles via NY R12 and R17/I86. Windsor is 41 miles and 38 minutes via Rt. 17/86.

Members of the OLL family are encouraged by OLL President Ken Winters to visit Hyde Park any night or Saturday and ask tournament officials what they can do to help.

Sixteen teams competed from July 6 to July 18 in the Winner’s and Loser’s Bracket of the 20th annual 12U Owego Little League Tournament.

Top three of the “C” Bracket was Union Endicott Little League in an extra inning over Second Place Susquehanna Valley. Third Place was Newark Valley Youth Baseball.

Top three of the “B” Bracket is First Place Mark Twain Little League-Elmira over cross-town Second Place West Elmira Little League. Third Place is to host Owego Little League.

Twin Zacky pitched a complete game gem and his twin brother Max made some plays at shortstop not often seen at this level. Nine years of playing and coaching in Little League ended for Coach Chris Odum with championships in the Owego, Maine Endwell and District Six Tournaments.

Tourney Co-Directors Eric Hawkins and Chris Rieg thank these teams from three counties – Tioga, Broome and Chemung – for playing.

Division C’s eight teams – Newark Valley, Maine Endwell-Rathgeber, Apalachin, Susquehana Valley, Vestal-Cordi, Chenango Forks, Union Endicott-Ferranti and Binghamton East.

Division B’s eight teams – Owego, Vestal Green, Vestal-Howard, West Elmira, Mark Twain, Waverly, Union Endicott-Sloan and Nichols-Tioga.

Co-Directors Hawkins and Rieg report 36 teams played in the 10U and 12U Owego Tournament.
