At approximately 1 p.m. on Monday, July 20, 2015, a motor vehicle, operator unknown, ran into a motorcycle (female driver unknown) by Browns Lane on North Avenue in Owego, N.Y.

According to Owego’s Chief of Police, Karen Vinti, the motorcyclist was thrown from her motorcycle, and then transported to the hospital with non-critical injuries.

The driver of the vehicle continued to drive, with the motorcycle stuck in the grill until they came to a stop by the Smoke Shop on North Avenue, approximately one half mile from the scene of the crash.

Chief Vinti believes that the vehicle stopped because there was a red light near the Smoke Shop, and noted that the driver of the vehicle had an unknown medical condition that contributed to the crash.

The driver was also transported to the hospital for medical conditions unrelated to the crash.

The Owego Emergency Medical Squad assisted the Owego Police Department at both scenes, as well as the Tioga Sheriff’s Department.

The names of the driver and the motorcyclist have not been released as of the time of this reporting, and the medical condition of the driver has not been released.

Chief Vinti added that no charges have been filed.
