It’s all about the kids during Kids’ Days at the Tioga County Fair planned for Tuesday and Thursday during the Tioga County Fair scheduled for July 7-11 at Marvin Park in Owego, N.Y.

For over 100 years, the Tioga County Fair has been an annual family event in Owego, N.Y. While the Fair appeals to all ages, anyone who has grown up in the area remembers the anticipation and excitement of children the moment the Midway rides appear in Marvin Park, soon to be whirling, whistling, blinking and carrying them away!

This year’s Tioga County Fair, planned for July 7-11, will have all the thrills that come with the rides and games on the Midway, but there will be even more for kids to do and see, and special days with activities just for them!

The Tioga County Fair is a celebration of agriculture in Tioga County, and that means 4-H and animals. The 4-H Food Booth, Dairy Bar, and Clover Café will be open in the 4-H Youth Building, and 4-H members will be showing horses, cows, sheep, goats, rabbits, dogs, and more over the five days of the Fair. The Fair is not only a fun way to spend time together, it also showcases the strong agricultural roots of Tioga County and educates young and old alike on the farming industry that is an important piece of our local economy.

New this year is a Power Wheels Demolition Derby for children that will kick off the Demolition Derby on Wednesday and Friday nights at 7 p.m. Kids can bring their Power Wheels, a helmet and parent or guardian with them to the Fair and join in the demolition fun.

In addition to farm animals and rides, this year there will be two Kids’ Days with even more animals and activities for kids!

On Tuesday, entry will be free until 5 p.m. There will not be any Midway rides open, but there will be plenty for kids to do. Touch-A-Truck will be there so kids can touch, see and explore their favorite big trucks. Kids can play games just for them or transform into their favorite super hero and run in the Hero Fun Run. At the 4-H Youth Barn, the Air Rifle Trailer opens at noon and a rabbit show begins at 2 p.m. in the Cattle Barn.

In the evening Animal Adventure Park from Harpursville, N.Y. will put on a show with exotic animals from all over the world. Everyone will get a kick out of Cow Pie Bingo at 6 p.m., a fundraiser for the Tioga County Boys and Girls Club (TCBGC) (tickets are available at the TCBGC located on Erie Street in Owego; cash prize). At dusk, Visions brings you Fireworks to end this day of fun with a bang.

On Thursday, most of the kids’ activities start at 3 p.m. Animals will be the theme, with two more exotic animal shows by Animal Adventure Park at 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. The Ross Park Zoomobile will be on hand from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. to introduce your little ones to residents of the Ross Park Zoo, and there will be a 4-H sheep show at 5 p.m. and a goat show at 7 p.m. in the Cattle Barn.

Children’s musician John Simon will perform at 3 p.m. on the stage followed by the Little Miss and Mister Tioga Pageant. Midway rides also open at 3 p.m. and there will be a juggler, face painting and caricatures. There may even be a Disney Princess or two walking around!

The Tioga County Fair is a great opportunity for kids to have fun and learn more about their community.
