New pricing at this year’s Tioga County Fair!

By popular demand, New York’s Tioga County Fair will offer “Visitor’s Choice” pricing for 2015. General Admission to the grounds at all Gates for everyone ages six and older will be $5.00 each. Under age six are guests. Free parking will again be offered near the “Back Gate” on Elm Street, across from Save More Furniture.

By special arrangement with Main Event Amusements, unlimited rides will be available Wednesday through Saturday for $10.00 each day. Children must be at least 36-inches tall to ride any Main Event device. Main Event is excited to be offering new rides in 2015 including Bumper Cars, The Zipper, and the ever-popular Scrambler.

Most Grandstand Events will be by paid admission of $5.00 for everyone age six and older; under age six are guests.

Opening Day on Tuesday, July 7, will offer free admission and free grandstand admission until 5 p.m.

Harness Racing begins on Tuesday with a 1 p.m. Post Time. In addition to all of the New York Sire Stakes action, the Fair Board is pleased to announce the return of the Jim Brown Memorial Open Trot and Open Pace races.

These races are just that, Open, meaning available to most amateur, older, and perhaps slower horses; the type of competition and training our late Racing Superintendent, Jim Brown, was dedicated to. New this year will be the H. S. Mead Memorial Race Under Saddle, which will feature Standardbred horses being ridden rather than driven.

It is the Fair Board’s hope that their “Visitor’s Choice” pricing will allow families to pick and choose each day which attractions they wish to take part in, considering tight budgets all around.

Also returning in 2015 will be a full slate of “Open Classes” seeking entries from the public for competition in Cattle, Honey Products, Maple Products, Home Brew (wine, beer and cider), Horticulture (house and garden plants), Fiber, Domestic Arts and Crafts, Baked Goods and Canned Goods.

Premium Books, explaining all rules and regulations for these Open Classes will be available at Cornell Cooperative Extension, Owego Agway, Ward and VanScoy (Owego and Berkshire locations), Quilters’ Haven and the Early Owego Antique Center.

More information can be found on the web at www.tiogacofair.com, including pages devoted to entry information for vendors and the various other public participation events.
