Free concerts at the Depot

The TARPS will open up 2015’s Depot Friday Night Series.

The Depot Friday Night Series, sponsored by the Newark Valley Historical Society, will open on Friday, June 5 at the Depot on Depot Street in Newark Valley.

First up this year will be a concert by the TARPS; a classic rock and roll band from the Ithaca area playing music of the 1950’s thru the 1980’s.

June 12 will find Rick Marsi, columnist, author and naturalist at the Depot presenting a program entitled “Exploring Alaska’s Inside Passage”.

On June 19 the very popular group Cobblestone Crossing will return to the Depot with music of the Kingston Trio; Peter, Paul and Mary; John Denver; Woody Guthrie; and a touch of bluegrass and country.

The Depot opens each Friday evening at 6 p.m., and the entertainment begins at 7 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public and refreshments are always available.

When the weather cooperates, the musical programs are usually outside so bring a lawn chair along. If you would like a copy of the entire Depot Friday Night series, call the Newark Valley Historical Society office at  642-9516 and leave your name and address and they will send the 2015 schedule to you.

This project is made possible, in part, with public funds from the NYS Council on the Arts’ Decentralization Program, administered locally by The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes.
