The ballroom of the Elks Lodge, located at 223 Front St. in Owego, N.Y. is the setting for a spectacular new event taking place on Sunday, June 7. Tables dressed in fancy linens and other festive decorations will adorn the ballroom as 20 or more volunteer models take the stage in a fashion show called “Fashions for Hope,” which benefits A New Hope Center.
Three Owego stores – Up the Creek Ladies Consignment Boutique, Lily Style Loft, and Sweet Valley Bridal and More, host the event, scheduled from noon to 2:30 p.m..
Tickets for the show are $10 each and are available for purchase at the three businesses hosting the event. Each ticket purchased includes one entry for a door prize.
Doors open at noon, with the fashion show slated to begin at 1:30 p.m. Tea, sandwiches, desserts, snacks, and tea will be served. A cash bar will also be available.
The Fashions for Hope fashion show will showcase beautiful summer clothing and shoes, including casual daytime wear that can easily transition into evening dress. Jewelry and numerous accessories will also be featured as well as exquisite bridal and prom gowns.
As many as 25 local businesses and vendors will be on hand for guests to browse and shop. Pink Zebra, 31, Mary Kay, Bill’s Kitchen and Quilter’s Haven, just to name a few, will have booths set up.
Several stores from the Owego shopping district are donating raffle baskets or will have representatives displaying select merchandise from their stores. Gift certificates from local restaurants and many other raffle items will be up for bid.
Theresa Lepkowski, owner of Lily Style Loft, shared that she is pleased how many Owego businesses have stepped forward to help make the event a success. Although the event is a fashion show to benefit a local organization, Lepkowski added, “The event will also show what Owego has to offer.”
Inspiration for the Fashions for Hope show originated from an idea by Tammi Seeley, co-owner of Up the Creek Ladies Boutique and Consignment. “A New Hope Center helped me during a difficult time I had,” Seeley explained. As a way to show appreciation and give back in a positive way, the initial fashion show concept bloomed and now involves multiple merchants, vendors, the Elks Lodge and the community.
All proceeds from the Fashions for Hope event benefit A New Hope Center. Located at 20 Church St. in Owego, N.Y., A New Hope Center offers assistance, counseling, and support to individuals and families dealing with domestic violence, rape crisis and crime victim services, counseling, support and advocacy.
Tickets for the fashion show can be purchased at the following Owego locations – Up the Creek Ladies Consignment Boutique located at 928 State Route 17C; Lily Style Loft located at 32-34 Lake St., or Sweet Valley Bridal and More at 195 Main St.
