Pictured, Owego Free Academy (OFA) student Brandon Hathaway signs a national letter of intent to attend school and play basketball at Division 2 University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.

Owego Free Academy (OFA) Brandon Hathaway signed a national letter of intent last month to attend school and play basketball at Division 2 University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. Hathaway plans to study physical therapy.

Academically at OFA, Hathaway is a member and vice president National Honor Society, is in the top 10 percent of his class, is the recipient of the Gaffney Scholarship, and is a member of the Athletic Leadership Council at OFA.

Hathaway’s basketball accomplishments include being a 4-year varsity starter, All-Division STAC as a sophomore, All-Conference STAC as a junior and as a senior, three-time Stars and Stripes all-star, third-ranked all-time scorer in OFA boys’ basketball history, the 2014-15 Section 4 all-star, and the 2014-15 Class A Section 4 Player of the Year.

The University of the Sciences is a member of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC). The men’s basketball team finished with a 25-6 record in 2014-15, the second-highest win total in school history, and earned a first-ever NCAA playoff berth. The University of the Sciences reached the East Regional semifinals before losing to Southern New Hampshire 59-53.
