Owego Little League (OLL) President Ken Winters announces his officers for the 2015 season. They are VP Baseball Chris Rieg, VP Softball Dave York, VP Teener Jim Lavo, Treasurer and Billboards/Advertising – Steve Lounsberry, Secretary Brandy Lunn, Player Agent and Webmaster Eric Hawkins, Equipment Manager Nichole Wayman, Uniform Manager Brandy Lunn, Concession Manager Kathie Rollison, Concession Co-Manager and Staff Coordinator Melissa Terry, Raffle Manager Denis McCann, Scheduler Mike Beyer, Picture Day Chairman Phil Wiles, Rules Interpreter Rich Ives, Building and Grounds – Ken Winters, Public Relations Director – Jim Raftis, and Assistant Tournament Director Ken Winters. Volunteers are needed to fill Safety Officer and Tournament Director.

Here are the 18 OLL Baseball and four Girls Softball Teams with Managers and Coaches:

Majors: Partners – Manager Steve Terry, Coach and Assistant William Dove and Fred Devita; Scott Smith – Mike Beyer; Rotary – Chris Rieg, Jeff Stanton and Matt Brown.

Minors: VFW – Rich Hoyt, Dan Tavelli and Keith Hammond; Chemung Canal – George Schumacher and Joe Bensley; Kiwanis – Scott Rollison and Joe Bensley; Ben Weitsman and Son – Patrick Boyer; WEBO – Eric Hawkins.

Modified: Mario’s – Kevin Thompson; Owego Moose – Korey Spicer; Richards Funeral Home – James Hover; Owego Taxi – Josh and Jason Rieg; Tioga State Bank – Greg Card; Tri Town – Dan Miller.

Tee Ball: Moore’s Tire Sales – Mike Baratta; Vietnam Veterans – John Gregory; Owego Lions – Jeff Smith; and Talcott Well Drilling – Ralph Trenchard.

Girls Softball: Susquehanna Printers – Crystal Sugars; Price Chopper – Dave York; Bud’s Place – Karen Shugars; Original Italian – Nichole Wayman.

Southern Tier Teener League starts June 1. VP Teener Jim Lavo has two 14-year-old teams and one 16-year-old team.

Five communities – Waverly, Newark Valley, Spencer, Candor and Tioga/Nichols have 23 teams playing home and away games with Owego in the InterCounty Baseball and Softball League.

Nine Majors teams include Newark Valley 1 and 2, Candor 1, Spencer Van Etten 1 and 2, Tioga 1 and 2 and Apalachin Red and Blue.

Fourteen Minors teams include Apalachin 1, 2, 3 and 4; Newark Valley 1 and 2; Candor 1 and 2; Nichols 1, 2, 3 and 4; and Spencer Van Etten 1 and 2.

Parents are reminded to keep their phone numbers and emergency contact information updated with league officials. VP Baseball Chris Rieg thanks volunteers for the cleanup and beautification of the park on “I Love My Hyde Park Work Bee Saturdays” and says all managers and coaches are in place. What’s more, baseball caps may have sponsor logos.

Raffle Chairman Denis McCann is distributing raffle tickets to all teams for the May 30 drawing. Treasurer Steve Lounsberry thanks sponsors of outfield billboard and welcomes new ones. Picture Chairman Phil Wiles announces Picture Day for Saturday, May 9, from 8:45 to 11 a.m. by OFA. Remember Sunday, May 3, for Major League Baseball Pitch, Hit and Run at 10 a.m. at Hyde Park.
