OA Booster Club to offer scholarships

Music is something that you will always have with you. Many students recognize this and are determined to continue their learning beyond what is offered by their school.

There are many youth-oriented summer opportunities for participation and learning. Among the many offerings are theater programs at Binghamton University and the Endicott Performing Arts Center, and music camps at Ithaca College and SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School.

To encourage Owego Apalachin (OA) students to participate, the OA Music Boosters are offering scholarships to students participating in these activities to assist them with the program fees.

The OA Music Boosters have set aside $1,000 for this scholarship fund. They will award $100 to each student who elects to participate, with the caveat that if more than ten students qualify the $1,000 will be divided equally among them. Students must be enrolled in Owego Free Academy (OFA) or the Owego Apalachin Middle School (OAMS) and be entering a grade from seven to12 in the fall. The qualifying programs must be from recognized organizations. Individual lessons will not be eligible. The student must demonstrate enrollment in a qualified program.

The application form is available from the OA Music Boosters website at www.oamusicboosters.org and from the OFA and OAMS music teachers.

Applications must be received by May 1. The address for submission is on the application form.
