Night of entertainment to benefit Camp Ahwaga

It will be a night to remember with show-stopping performances, all to benefit a great cause. “For the Gifted – from the Talented” will take place at 7 p.m., Friday, April 17 at the Owego Middle School auditorium located on Sheldon Guile Boulevard in Owego. All proceeds from the evening will go to Camp Ahwaga, an educational and recreational program that provides services to children with disabilities, ages five to 21 in Tioga County, New York.

Scheduled to perform are several local soloists and groups. Piano-player Rick Pedro thrills his audiences with fast-paced piano melodies, soulful harmonies and uproarious comedy with an infectious blend of patriotic standards, ragtime barnburners, and modern classics.

Singers Brittany Hayes and Rafaela Messmer will bring Broadway to Owego with their duet performance of “Defying Gravity” and “For Good” from the Tony-nominated musical “Wicked.”

The competitive team dancers of Kathy Hansen School of Dance will take the stage with their award-winning performances in tap, jazz, hip-hop, contemporary and more.

Also performing will be dancers from the Binghamton University dance team including a performance of “Orpheus.” “Orpheus” is based on the classic story of Greek mythology, which relocates the romance of Orpheus and Eurydice to an African village showcasing dance styles of Acrobatic, African, ballet, modern and jazz.

Tickets are a suggested donation of $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for students and senior citizens. Tickets are available now by calling Amy at 761-4353 or Center Stage at 625-5595, and will also be available the evening of the event.
